Description
For sale is this very good running 1960 John Deere 430-C. It is a very late 430C. It was ran 4 years ago and was parked and we will consider offers on it now. We may even sell it for -$600 less at $6,000 and then just load it on a truck with one of the huge forklifts on site. Then it could be pulled off at delivery or lifted off it you prefer. But 4 years ago the gas engine ran great and we still expect it too with the carb. cleaned, points filed, etc..
Has both the optional winch and has a reverser. The winch on the back does work we know. The undercarriage is average or as shown. The reverser we think works well but since we aren’t familiar with them, we are not sure. When you pull back on the reverser and hold it then it goes in reverse. Then going forward, it snaps into place and you don’t hold it. If that’s how it’s supposed to work, then it works fine. Also as shown on the blade up front this looks to be a 6-way blade with 2-way up/down and a 4-way manual adjustment for tilt and angle from what we see. This is a 1960 model and one of the last 1,000 made and one of the last 400 some made.
Some History on this Crawler regarding Model:
The current owner has thoroughly inspected this Agricultural Crawler including underneath to check to see if the main part was switched out and he does not see that. He owns or has owned about 20 original older John Deere’s and the paint and decals everywhere on this 430-C to him look all original and from the same era. The dealer who last sold it claimed it was a one-of-a-kind prototype. We can only repeat that and he had it stored in his own collection and warehouse for over 30 years.
This 430-C has a 440 model style nose on it which the previous longtime owner (who has been a John Deere construction dealer in West Virginia for over 45 years) said this 440 nose was factory – however, we have had others look at the pictures and they don
